UNITED WAY OF THE PLAINS AND BRADLEY PAPER PARTNER TO PROVIDE
FREE CARDS, INCLUDING POSTAGE, TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS
THE SITUATION:
Times are tough. People are angry, confused and worried, affected by a barrage of negative news.
The weight of the nation’s current situation has left many Americans feeling hopeless. The Nation’s
economy shrank at a pace of 6.3 percent in the final quarter of last year, and by 5.7 percent in the first
three months of this year. It marked the worst six-month performance in 50 years. More than 11,000
South Central Kansas workers were laid-off between July 2008 and May 2009, and most of those
laid-off worked in the aviation industry.
THE IDEA:
Get everyone in the Wichita area to send positive notes to ENCOURAGE, invigorate or support people
in our community, right now. Can you imagine thousands of invigorating cards sent to individuals -
one message at a time? It’s paying forward good will throughout our community when it’s needed
most.
BRADLEY PAPER AND UNITED WAY OF THE PLAINS:
United Way of the Plains invests in people - that’s the best investment that can be made in our
community. Recently the Laid-Off Workers Center opened to help people with basic needs.
Encouraging people in need is a natural extension of the assistance process, and that’s why Bradley
Paper is offering this opportunity.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT:
Encouragement gives every person a way to do something positive, right now. But we need to get the
word out. That’s where you come in. We’re asking you to share this Encouragement message
throughout our community, the state and the world around us. For additional information contact Mary
Ann Clifford at 316.684.3433.
