Embossed & Crinkled

Textured papers include those that are embossed or crinkled. They are produced in numerous countries such as India , Japan , and Nepal . Some papers are embossed and coated for a crocodile or reptilian skin look. Others contain floral or geometric designs.
Japanese momi paper is soft paper that is crinkled by hand. The papers are coated with either an imitation gold and silver powder mixed with paste or with mica for a pearlescence sheen. Japanese shiborizome paper is tie-dyed mulberry paper. Cork paper is created from the outer bark of the cork oak tree. Thin layers of the bark are laminated to a fine backing paper to create a paper that is resilient and beautiful. | |
